I began my career in estate agency whilst studying for my degree in Politics over 10 years ago and to be honest the requirements of estate agency aren’t too far away from a political landscape. I still like to be involved in the day to day running of the business and love finding out exactly what peoples requirements are along with matching them to the right property or landlord. No day is the same and I am proud to say we are an independent business amongst a sea of nationally run companies on what we in Sutton affectionately call ‘Estate Agents Row’.
I have probably encountered most situations regarding landlords, vendors and applicants, so much so I could probably write a book as I have been an estate agent since 1982. I am the go-to person in the office and mainly act as a trouble-shooter along with looking after our accounting. I believe we have a strong customer offering and trust our team to get the job done.
I like to think managing property is like managing children, in the best way possible. Problems come out of the blue and you have to think on your feet to solve them in a realistic amount of time whilst considering the needs of both tenant and landlord. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it. As a landlord myself I’m aware of the issues that can arise and how to tackle them. My law degree also helps me to think rationally and focus on my attention to detail.
I like the fact that each day I’m in the office is different and I love meeting new people and detailing what they are looking for. My background in sales enables me to listen carefully and hopefully match the right people to the right property.
I am the newest member of the team and am looking forward to using my past sales experience to develop my career. I feel my communication skills enable me to find out exactly what a potential client is looking for helping me to match them to the right property. I am thrilled to be given an opportunity to begin my career as an estate agent.
My background in sport and business provides me with a variety of skills to be able to help the range of clients Mi-Move work with. Part of my role is to build business for Mi-Move and I’m keen to hear from anyone who is involved in a local business or community/charity organisation to see how we can work in partnership to achieve shared goals.
